"If music is such an important aspect of people’s lives from the time they are born, why is it that it doesn’t really occur to us, as a society, to provide people with music when they can no longer do what is necessary to provide it for themselves?"

Thank you, thank you for visiting my website! Here’s a more thorough description of the upcoming library speaker series alongside the Alzheimer’s Association entitled Music and Memory: A Gateway to Lucidity...
This program infuses the science of music’s effect on the brain with the art of helping people connect with the soundtrack of their lives. While we wait for a cure for Alzheimer's and other forms of dementia, music seems to be one powerful way to bridge the gap to memories. Join us for an interactive discussion about this disease while discovering the power of a selected music repertoire.

My goal within this series is to present basic scientific information supporting the power of music in the brain as it pertains to autobiographical and semantic memory recall, provide basic facts about Alzheimer’s Disease, early detection, and current research, and finish by guiding you to the tools necessary to make meaningful connections with your loved ones through an individualized, varied music repertoire.

I’d love to hear your stories in person, so please join me at any of the 7 St. Louis County Library branches in August or September!

"What it comes down to as conductors, or ministers, or teachers, or parents of children… We need to do a very simple thing. And that is to care more. It is so simple that it is elusive. Not a saccharine caring, but a deep down caring that is part of commitment. It is the same care that makes you commit to the human race and to yourself."
–Elaine Brown (Alumni Lecture, May 13, 1988), Westminster Choir College

Music is the food of love as a true gateway to lucidity; therefore, it is my plea, along with thousands of music educators across the world, that we continue traditions of music excellence in our schools and within our homes to ensure connections to our families, their thoughts, and their minds until the end of natural life.
